We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: in our mind, half of the delight of travel in China is enjoying its singularly fantastic food. Whether it’s hot pot in Inner Mongolia or visiting our favorite haunts in Beijing and Shanghai, we cannot get enough. Thus, it will come as no surprise when we tell you our Gastronomic Tour with Fuchsia Dunlop is one of our office’s favorite journeys.
Led by renowned cook and author Fuchsia Dunlop, this trip will take you from Beijing to Xi’an, Chengdu, Shanghai and to all the delicious dishes in between. Along the way you’ll sample the dumplings of Xi’an, the spices of Sichuan, and the seafood of Shanghai. You’ll walk the spice markets and sip tea while observing the traditional pouring ceremony that has been perfected over a thousand years. You will even have the chance to try your own hand at making some of the scrumptious dishes you’ll be sampling along the way. And all the while, Fuchsia will be at your side; assisting you in the markets, giving you tips about how best to enjoy the Peking Duck, and sharing the wealth of gastronomic knowledge she has gained throughout her many years in China.
If you are going to be joining Fuchsia in China this year but cannot wait for the trip begin –and believe us, we sympathize with you–Fuchsia’s latest book on China Every Grain of Rice: Simple Chinese Home Cooking is now available in stores. So if you need something to sink your teeth into, this should do the trick.
If you will not be going with Fuchsia this year, fear not, we are happy to announce that she has signed on to lead this delicious adventure again in the fall of 2013. Don’t forget to sign up early though, this trip isn’t just a favorite inside the walls of our office.
If you would like to meet Fuchsia and hear her discuss her experiences in China come join us for our next Where the Wild Things Are on October 12th at Beijing’s Capital M. If you have questions about our Gastronomic Tour with Fuchsia send us an email at email@example.com and we will be happy to assist you.
