Arrive in Chengdu • Enjoy an evening of mesmerizing "face changing," folklore, and comedy at a Sichuanese opera show for an introduction to local culture
Education - The Spice of Life (Sichuan)
On this trip, students will delve into the wonders of Sichuan by getting close and personal with Giant Pandas, discovering lost civilizations in state of the art museums, and becoming in tune with nature within the shadow of the Tibetan Plateau.
About This Trip
Sichuan offers students an introduction to wildly delicious and spicy food—we'll stay away from too much lajiao pepper—and of course, China's adorable black and white Giant Panda. Adventure off the beaten path through diverse landscapes, spanning from the bustling city of Chengdu, to the northern grasslands and Jiuzhaigou National Park, and for the adventurous, the western Tibetan villages and spiritual snow mountains that intermingle within the Himalayan foothills.

In addition, students witness Chengdu's archeological importance while walking along prehistoric ruins and visiting exhibitions that decipher ancient tortoise shells and oracle bones to discover lost civilizations.
From kungfu classes with local students to trekking through bamboo forests in the Bifeng Gorge, this outward-bound trip veers away from China's well-worn tourist routes to challenge the body and mind.
